Quite a difference between the earlier Fourth Book, "The Music Hour," and the later Fourth Book, "Near and Far," both Silver Burdett books. Different philosophies on the part of the compilers, and changing times.
"The Music Hour, Fourth Book," embossed in black on the green cloth hardcover and spine, and printed on the title page. No other names. "Dedicated to Edward MacDowell" also on cover and title page. Copyright 1929, 1937, Silver Burdett Co. NY, Boston, Chicago, SF. Authors McConathy, Miessner, Birge and Bray. A little smaller in size than the Music For Living Series. Cover picture of a fiddler and dancing couple, 19th c. dress.

LYRICS

Windy March

The Traveler

The Cricket

At The Fair

Windy March

Message Board, searching for lyrics to "Windy March"; They also have cataloged several old school songbooks:
http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=82268&messages=3

Windy March is blowing, with all her might,
brooks are overflowing, with foam all white,
though it's cold as winter, snowy, blowy,
little Pussy Willow came to town last night.

Pussy wore her mittens of light gray fur,
Downy as a kitten, they surely were,
such a cunning midget, roughy, fluffy,
little Pussy Willow won't you please to purr.

ANOTHER SONG FROM THE BOOK
"March winds blowing cold and strong,
do not tarry blow along,
bring in April, bring in May,
March winds blow the cold away."

- (In the same music book.)

The Traveler

In the silvery moonlight,
Tapping at your door
I have come good neighbor
20 miles or more

Worn and I am weary
Let me rest I pray
Open quickly open
Do not say me 'Nay'!

The Cricket

Chirping, chirping, chirping, chirping,
There are crickets hiding in the grass
They're like little children
playing on their violins, I guess.

All night long they play and play
On the same old tune
Always chirping, chirping, chirping, chirping,
That is all they know, I guess

At The Fair

At a street Fair, We merrily dance today,
to music thats bright and gay,
come peddle our wares,
come and buy golden oranges, and fruits that are bright and fair,
dance gayly, dance gayly, come dance at the Fair-- HO.

  [~MERRY CHRISTMAS!!~]

"Jolly Old St. Nicholas"

[Collecting Lyrics as they Come Up]

*Jolly old St. Nicholas, lean your ear this way,
Don't you tell a single soul what i'm going to say.
Christmas Eve is coming soon, now you dear old man,
tell me what you'll bring to me, tell me if you can.

When the clock is striking twelve, when i'm fast asleep,
down the narrow chimney chute with your pack you'll creep.
Soon you'll find the stockings there hanging in a row,
mine will be the shortest one, mended at the toe.

Johnny wants a choo-choo train, Susie wants a sled, Nelly wants a box of paints: yellow, blue and red.
Now I think I'll leave to you what to give the rest,
choose for me dear Santa Claus, you will know the best..*

^^.. there's different versions out there, i just typed up the one i know~ it's late, ja ne minna! and have a safe and happy holiday!
